Mccustomapps ("we", "our", or "us") develops and provides the Scanit mobile application (the "App", package com.mccustomapps.Scanit). This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our App.

By using Scanit, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect and Process

Scanit is designed as a privacy-first, offline-capable utility. We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit any Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

A. Camera Access (android.permission.CAMERA)

  • Purpose: The App requires access to your device's camera exclusively to detect, scan, and decode QR codes and linear barcodes in real-time.
  • Local Processing: Camera frames and video feeds are processed 100% locally on your device in memory.
  • No Uploads: We never record, capture, store, or transmit your camera feed, images, or video to any external servers or third parties.

B. Local Scan History Storage

  • Any barcodes or QR codes you scan are stored locally on your device (using device storage) so you can view, copy, or search your previous scans in the History tab.
  • This data remains on your device and is never uploaded or synchronized with any remote server.
  • You can delete individual scan records or clear the entire history at any time within the App.

C. Clipboard Data

  • When you choose to copy a scanned result or generated code, the App interacts with your device's system clipboard only at your direct request.

2. Third-Party Services & External Links

  • Web Browsing: If you scan a QR code containing a web link (URL) and choose to open it, the link will open in your default browser or in-app browser (expo-web-browser). Your interaction with external websites is governed by the respective privacy policies of those third-party websites.
  • No Third-Party Analytics or Advertising Trackers: Scanit does not integrate third-party ad networks or user-tracking analytics SDKs.

3. Data Retention and Security

  • Since all scanning and history operations are stored locally on your device, you maintain full control over your data.
  • Uninstalling the App or clearing the App's data in your device settings will permanently remove all stored scan history.

4. Children's Privacy

Scanit is a general utility tool that does not address anyone under the age of 13 specifically, nor does it knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 years of age.
